I fussy cut the butterflies from some gorgeous fabric and machine appliqued them to the background.
I did the same with the leaves.
The flowers are 3D made from Suffolk puffs and were sewn on by hand at the end.
Basted and ready for the free motion quilting which I did on my Janome 1600P on the table top.
I used one layer of Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 wadding.
I used a polycore cotton thread made for machine quilting by Empress Mills, a family run UK manufacturers.
I finished it off with a ruffle in a slightly darker shade of blue.
A little pearl bead finished off the center of the flowers.
Cushion measures 13" x 18" excluding the ruffle.
A little sad to see this one go - turned out so nice. I must be on a roll !
Thanks for visiting today.

Fabulous pillow with beautiful quilting and accents.
Rhianon - your quilting is beautiful.. you just answered the question I asked on fb... you are very artistic. I am curious how you made the ruffle? Loved seeing all the photos.
your quilting is lovely as always and the design idea is so unique! what a great gift you've made.
Oh it is so pretty. I can understand why it was hard to gift away.
Rhianon, this is so beautiful! I always enjoy seeing what happens with a plain piece of fabric and then......your beautiful quilting!

I am so happy you shared how you make these pretty butterflies on your quilts - I have admired your appliqué and 3d effects for a long time! You should teach a class! :) I would love to try something like that, you have inspired me. :)
I love this quilt. The flowers, feather stitches and butterflies. Great job.
