I've been working on a new quilt this week. Its an unplanned project that started with a Moda charm pack called "Breakfast at Tiffanys". I only had one pack that was gifted to me by a friend.
I started with a disappearing 9 patch center and took it from there.
I'm using bondaweb to do my applique.....
Big open spaces for quilting ? Yes definitely!!
For the first time I'm using a blanket stitch on my machine (Janome XL 601) and I really like how it turned out.
Usually I use a close together zig zag stitch.
The variegated Gutermanns give a nice effect,
Adding borders.....
There's a bit of fullness going on in the center here - I knew I shouldn't have trusted pre cut fabric but I will just have to deal with it as best I can. Its all good experience for me.
So that is the story so far. Hoping to get this finished next week - fingers crossed :)
Thanks for visiting.
Rhianon.

Wonderful! Such amazing quilting. Which size of thread did you use for the blanket stitch? When I tried that with Aurofil 40/2 it looked weak and spindly!
Just wonderful - I am very new to quilting and notice that you use a Janome XL601 for general sewing, could you please tell me which machine you use for the quilting on the frame? I have a Janome 350 embroidery machine and am looking for a sewing machine which hopefully could do both quilting and general sewing.
This is just so beautiful....you should consider offering classes. I would come..

This is just stunning! :)
Oh my gosh. :D Rhianon, your work is always - ALWAYS - so gorgeous! Love the highlighting work in the butterfly and flowers, too.
Another hit Rhianon!! I still think you should move here and teach me!!!!!
Absolutely beautiful!!
Your quilting continues to be absolutely awe-inspiring. I love what you have done with what would have been just a simple quilt by most people. You have been inspiring me for a long time!
It is coming together beautifully Rhianon!!! You're eye for detail and incredible creativity are awe-inspiring!!! I look forward to seeing this beauty when it's finished!!
I really like where this one is going. Thanks for the tip on the blanket stitch. I'm going to try that on my next bit of applique.
Very cute lap quilt! I love the McTavishing and pebbles! When I run into fullness on a quilt I use my hand to push down slightly on the quilt close to the needle and it will just work right into the quilting and you won't even notice it when you are finished. A longarm quilting friend showed my that trick and I have used it often! Beautiful quilt as always!
Another gorgeous quilt! Love how you have taken something so simple and made it beautiful. You're inspiring!
Beautiful quilting! I saw one of your quilts on Pinterest and came to check you out! After looking at several of your projects, I have added you to my blog list! Thanks for some great ideas!
Would you be willing to share/sell the pattern for this quilt? Especially the flowers, leaves, and blue teardrop pieces? I love this!
Love the Quilt! What pattern did you use?
