Bloggers Quilt Festival -Fall 2014

My second entry into the Bloggers Quilt Festival is my Breakfast at Tiffanys quilt and I am putting it in the Original design category.

It is a lap sized quilt which I designed myself.  For the center I used a charm pack ( called Breakfast at Tiffanys) and the disappearing 9 patch block.  Wide cream borders gave me lots of room for machine appliqued flowers and feathers.

I quilted this one( freehand with no stitch regulator)  on my Gracie frame with a Janome 1600P .  I was very pleased with the quilting as my machine only has a 9" arm space which is not very big at all!

                                                                       Center section

Quilted feathers in the border with McTavishing and pebbles.

The flowers/feathers were machine appliqued with a blanket stitch on my smaller Janome 601

In opposite corners I added some prairie points just to frame the quilting.

The quilt has dusky pink binding but I can't find a photo.  I'll keep looking and come back and add it.

Bloggers Quilt Festival - Fall 2014

Its that time again!  Over at Amy's Creative Side, the twice yearly competition is just about to get underway. It's always a feast for quilters eyes.  A huge thank you to Amy and all the sponsors.

My first entry this time is my Owl Baby Quilt into the Home Machine Quilted category.

I made this in the spring of this year and it is all my own design.  The owls, leaves and tree are machine appliqued.  It has been copied so there may be other versions floating around on the internet but I did the original design.

It is all freehand free motion quilting done on my domestic machine, a Janome 1600P

Commissioned Cushions

Hi
Well this week I got the commissioned cushions finished and am very happy with how they turned out.  I'm not sure which is my favourite.

This one measures 18" excluding the edging.

This was the smaller of the two - 12".  Not that much room for fancy quilting but I did my best.

I free motion quilted these cushions on the table top as they are small projects.

Next up for me is some frame quilting. Here's a sneak peek of my progress so far:  Hoping to get more done this week.

Thanks for visiting today.
Happy sewing
Rhianon.
