Breakfast at Tiffanys Lap Quilt - finished!

Hi everyone

Hope you have a good week.  I've had my quilting blinkers on determined to get this lap quilt finished.
Thank you to everyone who left a comment last week.
I did get the quilting finished.  Here is the progress in photos.
If you missed the first post on this quilt, you can find it here.

I'm feeling much more confident on my frame now and am really enjoying it.  I don't think I'll ever free motion  quilt another big quilt on the table top - maybe just small projects.
I just have to trim and bind this now.  I'm already thinking what I can load onto the frame next........
Thanks for visiting today.

Breakfast at Tiffanys - a lap quilt.

Hello quilty people
I've been working on a new quilt this week.  Its an unplanned project that started with a Moda charm pack called "Breakfast at Tiffanys".  I only had one pack that was gifted to me by a friend.
I started with a disappearing 9 patch center and took it from there.

I'm using bondaweb to do my applique.....

Prairie points in the corners ?  Yes, why not!

Big open spaces for quilting ?  Yes definitely!!

For the first time I'm using a blanket stitch on my machine (Janome XL 601) and I really like how it turned out.
Usually I use a close together zig zag stitch.

The variegated Gutermanns give a nice effect,

 Adding borders.....

For the background fill I'm doing (or trying to do) a McTavishing with pebbles.

There's a bit of fullness going on in the center here - I knew I shouldn't have trusted pre cut fabric but I will just have to deal with it as best I can.  Its all good experience for me.

So that is the story so far.  Hoping to get this finished next week - fingers crossed :)
Thanks for visiting.

Fruit Salad - Applique Quilt with flowers and feathers

This weekend I finished my Fruit Salad quilt.  I've called it that because the colours remind me of a chewy sweetie of the same name.
This is one of these quilts that just happened.  I was quilting flowers and feathers and I just wanted to try the design as an applique.
It measures 60" x 72" and I used Soft and Bright polyester wadding.  The applique is raw edge and it was all quilted on my domestic on the table top.
Here is the quilt in pictures:

This quilt will be part of my display next year.  click this link to see details.
