Hi there,
I had a good week, ploughing on with lots of quilting.
Last post about the quilting on the Grandmothers fan quilt, I had got to the pale green border and had started adding some flowers.
I am using a Gutermann sulky varigated thread for the flowers and just a matching machine quilting thread ( from Empress Mills) for the background pebbling.
Apologies for the flurry of photos in this post. I'm really pleased with how this quilt has turned out. When I was piecing it, I had planned to put appliqued hummingbirds in the border but they didn't look right.
Without them I thought the quilt was a bit plain and lacking something but I'm so happy the quilting has brought it to life and I have an unexpected bonus in the form of my hummingbird wall hanging - another unplanned project that just happened. The embroidery is finished on that, it is off the roller frame and today I will be making a pieced border for it.
Also yesterday, I got DH to put my machine back on the Gracie frame so I spent last night 'playing'.
I'll show you some of that in a future post.
Happy stitching til next time
Rhianon.

Just gorgeous Rhianon!! I love seeing your work,
Just fabulous!
I know I say this pretty much every time, but it's true -- your quilting is stunning, Rhianon!
I absolutely love the swirly feathers, I'm using them on a bargello bed runner I'm fixing to quilt. Your grandmothers flower garden is amazing!. You had commented that you had been asked to have a showing of some sort, can you explain what all that will entail and where it will be in one of your blog post? I think we would all be interested in knowing. Some of the terminology you use is different than we would use here in the states, so I wasn't real clear exactly what the show would be. If you think that's not to personal a question. I love seeing your posts!
Wow! I am drooling on my shirt right now! How wonderful it looks! Hey, talk to me about fitting your machine on a frame - I bet it makes it easier to quilt larger projects. Right now I quilt on my Bernina...
fabulous quilting!
It is obvious your are talented and work very hard to perfect your art. I admire your work.
gorgeous border treatments - you should be very pleased - love seeing all the pictures!
Rhiannon - you may be the reason I have to buy a decent thesaurus; I keep running out of words that mean the same as WOW.
I love your quilt Rhianon; you can be very proud of what you have made. Beautiful work!
Definitely not boring anymore! It's fabulous!
Gorgeous quilting, as always.
