Prairie Point Quilted Cushions

Hi there

I was very happy to get a custom order this week for two cushions.  The brief was " anything you like as long as it has lots of pale green in it".  The second cushion is going in a raffle that this lady likes to donate to.
This is what I came up with:

This is how it looked before I quilted it...

Very plain isn't it?   .......

..... but I love how the quilting turns it into something special.

I showed it to my customer and she liked it so much we agreed that the other one should be like this but in beige and blues.

Here it is under construction.   It was great to get back to quilting some feathers.  I just love feathers!

I made my prairie points from a 4" square and stitched the tip down after quilting.

Somebody asked me if this was a Jennie Rayment design, but unless Jennie has copyright on prairie points then - no, it's my own design.

This is it finished but I need to get to the shops for a cushion pad.

I am loving making these and I confess I have already started another project using these blocks.  I'm making a quilt-as-you-go quilt. something I have not done before.
Off to work on that right now!
See you all again soon.
Rhianon.

Linking up with Confessions of a Fabric Addict and TGIFF so if you have a minute, pop over and check out this weeks finishes.

The pillows are gorgeous. I'm sure the one for the raffle will make lots of money. The quilting is amazing. Thanks for explaining how you stitched the prairie point tips down after quilting.

They both look FANTASTIC Rhianon!! I really love those feathers - my favourite FMQing design too! ... And that Quilting just brings the blocks to life!!! This will be amazing in an QAYG quilt!! ... Could even work in a top-batting-backing normal-size sandwiched quilt, lol, if you have enough room in the arm of the s.machine!

Is there a reason some of your prairie pints are seam side up and some seam side down? Also wondered why the other one has all the seams upward? Did you just find you preferred them showing the seam? We're you creating a design? It's hard to see and didn't know if it was an accident or on purpose. It is truly a neat design. The quilting really enhances it.
