Star Gazing by the Glenrothes Quilters

September and it is time for the Scottish Quilt Championships.
This year my quilt group decided to do a combined effort and enter the show for the very first time.  Its always good to support your local show after all if nobody enters, then there will be no show.

We decided to go with the theme of batik stars on a black background. Everybody was given the same black fabric and had the freedom to choose whatever colour/design of batik fabric that they fancied.
The stars could be any size as long as they were divisible by 2.

All the ladies made a star block and some flying geese border units, except for me. My job was putting it together and then doing the quilting.
I'm very happy to say the fruits of our labour brought us a second place ribbon in the group quilt category.
Here it is hanging in the show. The lighting was not the best but hopefully you will enjoy the photos I took during the quilting process.
I used Glide thread and black Hobbs 80/20.

I will be back at the show tomorrow and will take lots of photos of the other entries, so look out for another blog post very soon.
It was a good show with an amazing array of beautiful workmanship on display.
Back again very soon.
Enjoy your weekend and thank you for visiting my blog today .
