http://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/orca-bay-mystery.html You will find everything you need to know about Bonnie's mystery at the above link. - just in case you would like to make one!
Well my progress has been steady but I still have a lot of work to do.
This is part 7 in progress and I have not even started the border units yet.
I couldn't resist laying it out on the floor........ just to see how it would look.
I thought I had solved the mystery but I was so wrong...........
....I really like this lay out so I may just have to make another one. Any old excuse to play with more strings!!!
Head on over to Bonnie's blog now to check out all the other Orca Bays. There is some fabulous work going on.

Hopefully next time I post, I will have a completed quilt top to show you.
Have a good day everyone.

Your colorway is beautiful. Your alternate layout is great....hmmm, I still have lots of strings....and Ohio Stars are easy to make....
that is very beautiful
I like how your quilt has turned out. I also like your alternative solution. Would there be enough of the orange strings?
Thanks ladies - Liz, to answer your question, there is not enough strings. If my calculations are correct, then another 96 string triangle untis would be needed.
I really like your colorway, lovely!
Really beautiful colourway !
Your colorway is gorgeous. Makes me think of the rain forest.
Your layout is fabulous too! Love your colour choices!
I love your colors. It is turning out beautiful.
I agree with the others. Your colors are great. Just Beautiful. I didn't think about putting is together like you are instead of rows. Thanks for the idea. I think that will work better for me too.
Your colors look great!
I also agree with everyone. Your colors really make the quilt "pop"! Beautiful!
Love your color choices and your alternative layout! Beautiful result!
Love your colors and I agree that working with strings is always so much fun!
Your colors are so great! And your alternate layout is just as nice as the one Bonnie posted. Great job!
LOVE LOVE LOVE your colors. And your guess looks really awesome with the colors that you've chosen. I'm not sure which way I would go if I were you. Looks great!
Absolutely LOVE your use of the green! "Orca Bay Fever" really took hold!!!!!LOL!
Super looking!
Happy sewing
love your colors!...and your layout...makes me think ethnic fabrics would be great in this design as I have a stash of those too!
LOVE your fabrics!! That looks so rich and comforting. And I really like your alternate layout. I've enjoyed this so much that I'm going to hate to see it come to an end. lol Of course that isn't going to happen any time soon for me.
The colors are just fantastic, love it. I too am doing blocks like yours.
Just popped in to say your blocks are beautiful. I think this quilt could have several different layouts. I am very far behind, but plugging along. Good luck, will wait for more pics.
Looks fabulous! Both ways!
Did you have any problems with the string geese blocks having more elasticity than the Ohio Stars?
your colors remind me of the northern lights- not that I've seen them but what I would imagine they are like- your alternate layout is great as well. Thanks for the tip on the added string units needed. I am nowhere near this far along on mine... Great work!
I agree with what others have been saying... You color choices turned out perfect!
I never got started. Too many distractions with my kid's choir and other commitments.
I do love the pattern though, so I have printed all of the steps and I will be doing it in 2012.
Take Care,
Paul

I REALLY like your alternate layout! Very pretty.
I absolutely LOVE this quilt. You Really SHOULD make two. Both layouts are just awesome. Your greens really jump out. I hope mine looks half this good. Thanks so much for sharing.
As everyone has been telling you, you have made beautiful color choices! This will be a gorgeous quilt!
Love your colour combo - looking great! Like your 'guess' layout too :)
I like your colors. Thanks for the idea to make blocks rathers than rows. Now I just need to get to that point.
Your colors are gorgeous! I love your first layout too! Won't be long before you have a beautiful quilt! ~Jeanne
As so many others have said, your color choices are spectacular!! How did you decide what colors to use? I like yours better than the original (even though I know it's heresy to say so!) :)
